I know it’s been a while since I’ve blogged, Nick’s been doing a great job! But I just HAD to share with you all the amazing experience I just had. I was able to be one of the first to have Breakfast in the Sky- our newest attraction at Morey’s. Starting tomorrow, anyone can call and reserve a spot on the Giant Wheel to be whisked away on a breakfast experience unlike any other.

With the warm, golden glow of the morning sun reflected off of the deep blue Atlantic Ocean, Breakfast in the Sky is an experience taken to a new level- 160 feet above sea level, to be exact.

I was whisked away on a dream-like adventure, leisurely soaring high above Wildwood on the Great Wheel as the sun rose in the sky, while dining on culinary delights complete with fine china, white linen tablecloths, and wheel-side service.

All menu items were hand-crafted by Moreys’ new Executive Chef Walter Jurusz and included dishes like a Shrimp and Lobster Omelet, freshly-made Belgian Waffle or Smoked Salmon Scrambled eggs.

I LOVED the scenic views from the top of the ferris wheel; you can see for miles! The morning is so peaceful, and I even was able to watch dolphins playing in the ocean.

The MORE Beach Blast Sand Soccer Tournament is scheduled for this Saturday and Sunday, July 17, 18. Round 2 of Beach Blast will not be able to compare to the crowds of the first, but it gives an opportunity to those who couldn’t make it to Wildwood 3 weeks ago and will act as a sequel to the largest beach soccer tournament in the world. If spirituality camp outs and beach soccer aren’t your specialty, then possibly our third special event of the weekend may spark your interest. The Wildwood shore and Morey’s Piers are excited to announce the hosting of our first annual Beach Lacrosse Tournament. This weekend Wildwood will be the first venue to host a beach lacrosse tournament in the United States. Last year, event planners from Morey’s Piers traveled to The Netherlands to observe and research the only known beach lacrosse tournament in the world. With the information and experience that they compiled, we were ready to launch our own tournament this summer. Lacrosse players from all over the east coast have signed up to make the trip, and the tournament is likely to inspire lacrosse enthusiasts everywhere to expand their horizons. We have learned a lot since the Ghost Ship opened Memorial Weekend, and the ship itself has undergone a fair amount of change. Because the crew is made up of live bodies, they are always changing their behavior to present newer and scarier material to visitors. The flexibility that the crew has is a huge part in making sure the attraction remains compelling. We have been adding things to the attraction hoping to improve it, but one area that we agreed we blew it on was the ending…….. well, that is about to change.

Construction is underway on a new scene that will deviate from the rest of the attraction. Lead designer Russell Bethea has miraculously found some hidden space to create a horrific new finale. The scene is being built by Morey’s in-house spook therapist, Anthony Canzano and local hauntepreneur, Eric Prinz.

It is not too late however to make suggestions for what you feel should be included in this scene. Feel free to express any other ideas you may have, as this is live theatre and change is part of the recipe…

This year’s Beach Blast Soccer Tournament was another great success!. The turnout was great as the Wildwood shore was buzzing with soccer enthusiasts of all ages in support of their respected clubs, wearing colorful jerseys and exhibiting high energy.
Soccer was the theme all over the piers, as hundreds of games were played simultaneously, and large jumbo screens were set up for guests to witness Team USA’s final match in the World Cup. Although it was unfortunate that the US could not pull out a victory in celebration of Beach Blast, they gave a tremendous effort this summer and further enhanced the USA’s development into a reputable nation for competitive soccer.
We were blessed with pleasant weather and the camping attendance was awesome. I know I enjoyed every minute of Beach Blast witnessing and taking photos and video footage of all the games, and I hope that all who partook in the weekend’s festivities shared my joy and enthusiasm.

With the World Cup in full swing, the world’s eyes are focused on South Africa; soccer is on everyone’s mind, and for good reason. When you see participants from all over the world battling for their nation on 100 meters of grass and chalk, you get a tremendous urge to go out and play or cheer on your favorite team. Soccer isn’t a sport that normally takes place at the boardwalk, but who says things around here always remain the same?

Growing up in California, I spent my days at the beach watching your typical beach volleyball games, ultimate Frisbee matches, and the occasional football or softball game. Although, in all my years of sports watching, I have never seen teams of competitive soccer players warming up on the sand for tournament play. As most will admit, soccer is a physically demanding sport that takes hard work and training. When the setting is changed from grass or Astroturf to the public sand of Wildwood, an entirely new and different game is sure to materialize.

The 8th Annual Beach Blast Barefoot Soccer Tournament, scheduled for the 26th and 27th of this month, is an opportunity for youth and adult players alike to test their skills on a much different “field,” playing for bragging rights of the boardwalk. The Bash allows players and bystanders to witness competitive soccer at one of the most unique venues in the world. Beach soccer tournaments exist all over the United States, but this venue is particularly special. With the gorgeous Wildwood shore the setting for match play and the fun filled boardwalk directly adjacent, the Bash is guaranteed to provide a thrilling experience for all in attendance.

Youth and adult teams from the entire Atlantic coast have entered the tournament and are contending for trophies, pride, and a spot in Morey’s Piers history books. My name is Nick Dybsky, and I recently joined Morey’s Marketing Department for the summer as a contributing intern. Kate and I will be working together on all marketing aspects of the company, providing service wherever needed. I will be writing weekly blogs for the website to keep visitors informed on upcoming events and excite them to experience Morey’s Piers.

I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. Before I landed at Morey’s Piers and Beachfront Waterparks, I had never traveled anywhere in the U.S. east of Chicago, but was eager to extend my travel experience. Thus far, my encounter with the east coast and my welcome to Wildwood have been new and pleasant experiences. Therefore, I am looking forward to exploring and contributing to my new workplace environment.

I will start my fourth and final year at the University of San Diego in the fall, majoring in marketing and minoring in international business. I grew up in a small coastal town just north of the Golden Gate Bridge, so transitioning to Wildwood’s coastal local has been relatively smooth. On the other hand, my hometown’s collection of just over 100 homes is dwarfed in comparison to Wilwood’s 100+ rides and amusements. The bustle that the piers will attract during the next four months is likely to top any crowds I have ever come across, and I anticipate this summer to be nothing short of spectacular.

I chose to come to New Jersey because I have good close family relations with members of Morey’s Piers and I wanted to try work with something fresh and exciting. I also couldn’t think of a better place to employ myself for the summer than one of the finest seaside amusement parks in the entire world. Although the Jersey shore culture is something that is very foreign to me, I understand it better each day and I am beginning to find parallels that exist between the high energy, east coast culture and the laid-back, west coast lifestyle to which I am accustomed.

I am an avid bay area sports fan, but it poses a little bit of a problem being on the opposite coast, because my SF Giants games don’t start until after 10pm. In addition, I am an active music guru as well. I have attended a number of music festivals up and down the west coast and I am looking to expand my scope further this summer.

Last Sunday, love was in the air as Uri led his girlfriend, Rachel, along the boardwalk. The sun was shining and birds were chirping as the couple joyously explored Morey’s Piers. After a wonderful day, Uri wanted to stop and see the boardwalk’s newest attraction: The Palace of Sweets, home of the adventure maze. However, only a few minutes after entering the maze, Uri got “lost” and left Rachel wandering through the glittering house of mirrors. As Rachel neared the exit, she came upon a rotunda, where 6 mirrors reflected off each other. In each of the mirrors, Rachel saw Uri, but she had to find out which one was really truly her loving boyfriend. When she did, he was waiting with a diamond ring and asked for her hand in marriage.
