It’s that time of year, where we start seeing the familiar faces of summer. With less than 40 days until Opening Day (37 to be exact) it’s time to get the fire burning. Seasonal Managers and Supervisors have arrived once again to get ready for the opening deadline of April 3rd. DUN DUN DUN! Training begins in less than 3 short weeks, so the winters work of updating thousands of pages of training and procedural documents is being finalized and printing has begun. And of course CLEANING! We visited over 50 Scout Councils in 9 different states distributing information for our Beach Jam and Beach Bop Scouting Events! The weather outside is frightful but the pier is so delightful and since there’s no place to go we’ll prepare for the summer in the snow! As the second BLIZZARD of the week is upon us and Wildwood struggles with keeping electric and plowing the snow, we are here getting ready to open for you Easter Weekend. It’s a snowy day at the piers but life, I mean inspections, must go on. With our opening day quickly approaching (53 days to be exact) some of our rides are scheduled to be inspected by the state within the next few days. So, with three feet of snow, what do we do? Cancel? No, our facilities department is shoveling around the Kiddie Swings and Sunny’s Lookout Lighthouse complete with walking paths to get to the rides safely. Here are some pictures!

Ok, we don’t take awards all that seriously around here, especially when they honor our marketing expertise. But its the middle of Winter, we are closed, and, after all, I AM the Director of Sales and Marketing, so please pardon my pride over the following little tribute: On Monday, February 1, 2010, Morey’s Piers received the bronze award for excellence in Web Marketing from the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI) at the annual Adrian Awards Gala in New York City. The gala heralded the inspiration and best practices in sales and marketing for hospitality, travel and tourism from around the world. We received the award on behalf of Morey’s Piers (and our online marketing firm: .Com Marketing) at a black tie event held at the New York Marriott Marquis.

So much for the award hoopla. As Jack Morey says, these awards are sweet, but the opinions of our guests matter much more than the judges of HSMAI.

We were awarded the FIRST ever Golden Nugget Award by ACE New Jersey on January 9th at the Winter Oasis Event hosted by Sahara Sam’s Indoor Water Park (I know this is late news)! What is this? This award was named in honor of our very own Golden Nugget (now at its new home at Knoebel’s Amusement Resort) and recognizes the park who exhibits the true spirit of the American Coaster Enthusiasts.
