I’ve been told that I have the best office space in the entire admin building here on Mariner’s Landing Pier, and I have to agree. When I look past the edge of my desk I can see an amazing assortment of rides full of life and laughter in the summer, but eerily quiet this time of year. And of course, the beach and ocean create a breath taking vista to behold, especially during winter’s solitary days. We’ve watched some amazing storms roll in off the ocean a time or two. And once in a while we get snow and it’s awesome – as long as you don’t slip, the boards are very slippery when covered in ice!
Walking to and from the parking lot and main building is almost surreal this time of year, that is compared to the bustling excitement and waves of guests we encounter in July. No tram car squawking, no bicyclists speeding, or pedestrians out for a stroll. Everything is still. And as glad as I am to see summer roll in, I’m equally pleased to welcome winter at the shore. This is our time for rest, reflection and rejuvenation. Well, maybe not so much rest.
Even though it’s quiet outside on the boardwalk right now there is a LOT of activity happening inside Morey’s Piers HQ. This is the time of year for planning – and boy do we have some great stuff in the pipeline for summer 2011.
How is your February going?
