The Race of Gentlemen

The Race of Gentlemen

Something that hasn’t happened in the City of Wildwood since the early 1900’s is about to take place on October 4th, 5th, & 6th 2013, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome this event into town! Ladies and gentlemen, children of all ages: The Oilers Car Club of NJ has teamed up with Wildwood Motor Events, powered by the Greater Wildwood Hotel & Motel Association to proudly present to you; The Race of Gentlemen!

What exactly is The Race of Gentlemen?

I’m glad you asked! The Race of the Gentlemen is a rare collection of pre-war (1920’s & 30’s) Automobiles and Motorcycles that will race their machines at the water’s edge of our world renowned beaches in Wildwood, NJ. On Saturday and Sunday, October 5th & 6th, automobiles dating back to 1907, as well as motorcycles from 1911 will be pushed to their limits with races you won’t want to miss on an eighth mile track right here on our very own shoreline. Indians, Harley Davidsons, Excelciors, Fords, Dodge Brothers will all be represented for this rare event.

There were a few reasons the announcement of this race caught my attention right away. One of them being after Mel, the event director and originator had got in contact with me, I realized that this wasn't just any normal "car race." It's not on a track, its not indoors or in Daytona... it's right here on our beaches!! While not only offering something that hasn't been done here since close to 1917, The Race of Gentlemen is bringing a weekend jammed packed with cool events and things to do on top of the races. From a Friday night pre-party and car show, bon fire on the beach, car and motorcycle races along the waterline, vendors, food, rock-n-roll, and much more, Morey Resorts couldn't wait to be a part of this and offer discounts to the followers and families that want to come to Wildwood and catch this weekend!  Gather up your friends and family, and get ready to be a part of recreating history here in Wildwood, NJ with attending The Race of Gentlemens weekend.
