Two Pep and a Birch…..

The Wildwood Boardwalk is nostalgic for so many reasons.  For me, one of these reasons is the food.  And while my figure may not agree, I love Boardwalk food.  And if you want the best, there is a little pizza joint located right on 26th Street that hits the spot every time I eat there.  In the Mack’s vs. Sam’s debate, I am clearly “Team Sam’s” all the way.  By far, the best slice of pizza one can get on the Boardwalk, and maybe anywhere.  But as with most Boardwalk businesses, Sam’s Pizza takes a well needed rest each fall and closes for the off-season.

So throughout the winter, I often find myself craving a slice from Sam’s.  Today however,  I get to act on that craving….Sam’s Pizza opening day!  You know that summer is getting close when Sam’s opens up and all of a sudden that part of the boardwalk slowly comes alive, even if it is just for the weekends at first.

I can’t wait for the weather to finally turn and for Spring and Summer to arrive.  I know it’s close, I got two slices of pepperoni and a birch-beer with crushed ice sitting right in front of me…

Sam’s Pizza is the best by far!  The 1st thing we eat when we start our week out at the beach is go to SAM’S for a whole pizza.  When I heard on the news a few years ago Sam’s had a fire, I was so dissapointed.  I wasn’t sure they would rebuild.  Thank God they did and even bigger to handle more customer for their Pizza.  My Cousins and I argue who has the best.  They say Mac’, I say too greasey!  I say SAMS!  Some have now even converted!  Thanks Sam’s Pizza keep them coming!

Oh, please, please, please overnight some to Utah!  I miss Sam’s so much!  Pizza here is, well, awful in comparison.  And, with the exception of one visit back to the boards ten years ago, I haven’t had a good cheesesteak fo 20 years.  Shameful…

Although I really love Sam’s Pizza, I have to say the little place down at the other end by Cresse Avenue is my new favorite!  Great pizza, without the long line!

While I am “Team Mack’s”, Sam’s is good stuff.  I don’t know why deciding between two individually excellent offerings turns to vicious insults every summer lol.
