Dear Wild Halfsters,
After a tremendous amount of thought and careful consideration, we’ve made the decision to move the next running of The Wild Half to Sunday, May 18, 2014. Moving the race to 2014 will give us the time needed to make key improvements to the course layout and set the foundation for a fantastic spring event.
Your feedback from The Wild Half 2012 has been incredibly valuable and served as a basis for our decision to move the event to May. Also, we are confident that a May date will give us a better opportunity for optimum weather conditions. As many of you will recall, our late August date has had its challenges. The 2011 race was cancelled due to Hurricane Irene, and in 2012 an early morning severe thunderstorm nearly cancelled the race and left us with flooding on the course, mangled tents and a soggy beach.
We remain committed to making The Wild Half a world-class half marathon and weekend that will be a joy for the entire family. We hope you can bear with us through these growing pains and look forward to an amazing race in 2014. We will keep you posted on course improvements and other exciting news as the planning continues including a very special but limited early, early registration offer. You might want to check our website periodically for updates.
As always, thank you for your interest and please prepare to expect the best in 2014 when we plan to welcome over 3,000 participant to the Wildwoods for our second running of The Wild Half.
Safe workouts and the best of health,
Will and Jack Morey, Larry and Michele Redrow,
