A Closer Walk - Christian Youth Event at Moreys' Piers and Beachfront Waterparks

A Closer Walk is a dynamic Christian youth event designed to help young people strengthen their relationship with Jesus Christ. Now in its 8th year, A Closer Walk continues to reach out to thousands of young Christians, inspiring a weekend filled with fellowship, fun and focus on Christ.

This unique event takes place on the beach in Wildwood NJ  at Morey’s Piers with the beautiful Atlantic Ocean as a backdrop. A Closer Walk kicks off Thursday afternoon and wraps up Saturday by noon.

Youth Leaders Reception

We recognize the huge responsibility that it is to bring a group of young people to an outdoor, overnight event - not to mention the nurturing and guidance you provide your group all year long. So, we’d like to show you our appreciation for all you do. Join us Friday between 4 pm and 5 pm at the Ministry Tent for a special reception exclusive to youth leaders.

Ocean Baptisms

Last year was the first time we officially added baptisms to our event itinerary, and whoa were we surprised by how many people responded to the offer! This year, if you would like to be baptized in the ocean, we’ll have a sign-up sheet at the Ministry Tent. You can sign up any time the Ministry Tent is open. Following the event, we’ll send you a baptism certificate to help you remember the wonderful day you gave your life to God!

Guest Speaker - Joel Johnson (Thursday evening and Friday evening sessions)

Joel Johnson started preaching at the age of fourteen.  Since then he has traveled to over twenty nations around the world to share his testimony and the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Joel underwent two years of ministry training at Abundant Life School of Ministry and in 1999 went through a yearlong speaking mentorship with Ron Luce (CEO and President of Teen Mania Ministries).  Since 2000, Joel has co-hosted "Acquire the Fire" youth conferences.  He has spoken before over a million people in the last eight years.  He aslo received a B.S. in Political Science from the University of Texas at Tyler, graduating summa cum laude.

In the past two years, Joel has ministered in over four hundred churches Worldwide.  He has traveled speaking with such bands as Newsboys, Third Day, The Waiting, Petra, Gospel Gangstaz, Project 86 and Jeremy Camp.

Joel's powerful testimony shows the power of God can take people through the hardest of times.  As a young man he faced issues such as:  growing up with an alcoholic stepfather, abuse and obesity.

Joel's side-splitting humor, passion for god and desire to see people become more whole and to discover their God-given purpose has blessed and challenged thousands around the world.

Worship Band - Kathleen Carnali (Thursday evening, Friday morning and Friday evening sessions)

Whether playing at a living room piano or in a grand arena, Kathleen has an amazing way of connecting with an audience and delivering a message that meets people just where they are.  Her unique style and gift of musical diversity allows her to be current and effective in any venue.

Currently on tour, she spreads a message of hope and new life in Christ.  songs have been soaring the charts in radio all over the nation.  I Will Not Be Afraid has been recently hitting number one on different stations in the Country.  Her mission is to share the love of Jesus that He alone can give and to let people know how valuable and treasured they are in His eyes.

Says Carnali, "Music can speak to people in ways that mere words cannot.  Somehow, it can break through walls and barriers, and reach down to touch the soul.  What an awesome tool we have been given to share the Love and Good News of our Lord."

Guest Speaker - Rudy Sheptock (Friday morning session)

Pastor Rudy is currently the Senior Pastor of the Lighthouse Church of the Christian and Missionary Alliance in Cape May County, NJ.  Rudy has been a featured speaker at the Christian and Missionary Alliance LIFE Conferences, Operation Good News Events and camps throughout the country.  He has also spoken at the C&MA Colleges, countless churches and church retreats and has ministered abroad.  Pastor Rudy is known for his passionate love for Jesus and contagious enthusiasm which become veident in his unique speaking style.  For more information about the Lighthouse Church and Pastor Rudy go to www.ticcma.org.

Being a Christian for 50 plus years has brought home the challenge of trying to make progress in becoming more like Christ.  It is personally exciting to me to see how A closer Walk is endeavoring to help today's young people develop a deeper relationship with our Lord.

Our joy will be greater and the intensity of our light will be stronger as we make progress in our walk.  It is exciting to grow together as we mutually encourage, challenge and help one another to grow in Him.

Handling fees are $8 per order, and include will call orders. All pricing is per person and includes: camping Thursday and Friday nights, breakfast on Friday and Saturday morning, dinner on Friday evening, speaker and worship sessions, Morey’s Piers amusement rides and waterparks until 6 pm on Saturday.
