A Closer Walk is a dynamic Christian youth event designed to help young people strengthen their relationship with Jesus Christ. Now in its 9th year, A Closer Walk continues to reach out to thousands of young Christians offering a weekend of fellowship and renewal. This inspiring event led by the Holy Spirit will touch hearts and change lives.

Youth Leaders Reception

We recognize the huge responsibility that it is to bring a group of young people to an outdoor, overnight event - not to mention the nurturing and guidance you provide your group all year long. So, we’d like to show you our appreciation and give you some encouragement. Join us Friday between 4 pm and 5 pm at the BeachTent for a special reception exclusive to youth leaders.

Ocean Baptisms

The ocean baptisms continually prove to be a focal point for our A Closer Walk attendees. Each year we are amazed by the number of people who participate in this beautiful ceremony. Baptisms are held Friday at 10:30 am following the morning speaker session. If you would like to be baptized in the ocean, we’ll have a sign-up sheet at the Ministry Tent. You can sign up any time the Ministry Tent is open. After the ceremony you will receive a baptism certificate to help you remember the wonderful day you gave your life to God.

Annual Scavenger Hunt

The scavenger hunt takes place during the youth leaders' reception, that way teens can enjoy a fun, interactive activity while youth leaders have the opportunity to meet each other. Our scavenger hunt director teams up kids from different youth groups so teens get to know someone new.

Guest Speaker Joel Johnson

Catch Joel speaking on Thursday and Friday evenings between 9 and 10 PM

Joel underwent two years of ministry training at Abundant Life School of Ministry and in 1999 went through a yearlong speaking mentorship with Ron Luce (CEO and President of Teen Mania Ministries). Since 2000, Joel has co-hosted "Acquire the Fire" youth conferences. In the past two years, Joel has ministered in over four hundred churches Worldwide. He has traveled speaking with such bands as Newsboys, Third Day, The Waiting, Project 86 and Jeremy Camp.

Joel's powerful testimony shows the power of God can take people through the hardest of times. As a young man he faced issues such as growing up with an alcoholic stepfather, abuse and obesity. Joel's side-splitting humor, passion for god and desire to see people become more whole and to discover their God-given purpose has blessed and challenged thousands around the world. A message from Dennis Hall:

We are instructed in Colossians 3 to "...set our hearts...and minds on things above...not on earthly things." (NIV)

What a joy, what a blessing, what a challenge to try to live those words and occasionally taste the heavenly sweetness when we actually succeed and are able to imagine the eternal differences being made. In a world that constantly tears down and tries to defeat, I am thankful and hopeful that in some small way you can be encouraged as youth leaders to stay true to your joy and task of being used of Him in the lives of the youth you are leading. Looking forward to meeting you, praying with you, shaking your hand, giving a hug or a slap on the back to say "Thank You" for the eternal changes you are bringing about by your availability in working with our young people. Handling fees are $8 per order, and include will call orders. All pricing is per person and includes: camping Thursday and Friday nights, breakfast and dinner on Friday, all speaker and worship sessions, and Morey’s Piers amusement rides and waterparks until 6 pm on Saturday.
