Morey’s Piers is a proud sponsor of the Battle on the Beach Flag Football Tournament. This awesome summer Jersey Shore beach event features 5 v 5 beach flag football for both boys and girls 5 – 17 years old as well as adults.
THE TOURNAMENT. Games are 5 v 5, minimum 7 players and maximum 10 players per team. Games consist of 2-20 minute halves, games start on the hour. Substitutions will occur on the fly.
FIELDS. Fields are 30 yards by 40 yards plus 5 yards for each end zone. Nylon webbing staked at the 4 corners and cones will delineate the fields. Each team will play 3 games (weather and other unforeseen conditions permitting) with a 4th possible for those advancing to the finals.
REGISTRATION OPENS IN JANUARY
Youth teams receive ten (10) complimentary 3-day, all access wristbands included as part of their registration fee. Wristbands are good for unlimited access to both Ocean Oasis and Raging Waters Beachfront Waterparks plus unlimited rides on all 3 Amusement Piers all day on Friday, Saturday and Sunday! The 10 wristbands may be used for any 10 individuals, whether players or family. Remember, the wristbands may only be used for one individual and are not transferable. Additional individual bands can be purchased. See Non-Player Wristbands, below.
ADULT – 2 Options
Adult Option 1 - REGISTRATION ONLY. Does not include any wristbands as part of registration fee. Additional individual bands can still be purchased. See Non-Player Wristbands, below.
Adult Option 2 – REGISTRATION & 10 WRISTBANDS. Team will receive ten (10) complimentary 3-day, all access wristbands included as part of their registration fee. Non-Player Amusement Pier & Water Park Wristband (additional person) includes the following:
- Unlimited access to Raging Waters and Ocean Oasis Water Parks, Friday - Sunday.
- All 3 Amusement Piers, Friday - Sunday.
These passes are only available to accepted teams and will be purchased directly from Morey’s Piers. Once your team is accepted, you will be notified as to how you can pre-purchase these passes online.
Additional wristbands will be available for purchase at a discounted price. Once registered, an email will be sent to all coaches with additional information.
RULES AND REGULATIONS
NO SHOES ALLOWED. Players must play in their bare feet - socks or sand socks, tape and ankle braces are allowed but there can be no hard reinforcements in the ankle brace. Sports knee braces with metal support are fine.
ELIGIBILITY. This tournament is open to any youth travel, recreation or other team from any organization that meets the age standards. Premier, Travel and Recreation divisions will be established to accommodate any team that wants to join in the FLAG FOOTBALL BATTLE ON THE BEACH fun.
AGE REQUIREMENTS. Divisions for tournament will be formed by age using the Spring 2017 age designations as follows:
- Youth Divisions (based on child's age on May 1st, 2019). Age Groups; 5-7 yrs, 8-9 yrs, 10-11 yrs, 12-14 yrs, 15-17 yrs, 18+
- The oldest person on the roster shall determine the age group for any team. Youth players can play up in older Youth divisions only. However, players may not play down.
- Teams/Divisions are age based only! All are welcome, teams can be Co-ed, all boys or all girls. This will not determine the bracket you are placed in.
PLAYERS CANNOT PLAY ON MORE THAN ONE TEAM, ESPECIALLY IN THE SAME AGE GROUP. THIS WILL BE CAUSE FOR FORFEIT OF ALL GAMES WITH NO REFUND
Rosters and proof of age will be required at registration; player cards will be accepted for travel teams, a copy of birth certificate will be required for all non-carded youth players. Proof of age is required at registration, no exceptions.
AWARDS. Trophies will be provided for first place finishers in all divisions, medals for second.
