In the Books…

Ocean Oasis Waterpark + Beach Club closed for the season this past Monday.  As the manager of that facility, the days following a “closing-day” are always met with mixed emotions.  On one hand, walking into an empty waterpark today provided an “emotional joy” as the stresses and intensity of a busy season has come to an end.  On the other hand, there is also a sense of sadness as a reminder of a cold and windy off-season ahead are slowly creeping in.

September is my favorite month of the year.  For the past 100 days, we have worked our rear ends off to please and serve the hundreds of thousands of guests who visited us this past summer.  Now that the beaches are empty, it is our turn to enjoy the final few weeks of summer, and play “guest”, even if it is just for a short time.

The waterpark season often follows a recurring pattern.  It all starts around the middle of April when the pace begins to pick up with Memorial Day Weekend slowly approaching.  May is always a hectic month trying to hit strict deadlines to get Raging Waters open on time.  June gets tougher as we have to get Ocean Oasis Waterpark open, while at the same time training and developing almost 300 waterpark team members.

After the hectic July 4thweekend, we begin to phase into normal operating mode and this allows us to better focus on the operational details that offer an incredible waterpark guest experience each and every day.  Come August, many of us are tired and cranky, but the goal still remains….to offer a spectacular guest experience in an exceedingly clean safe and friendly environment..each day until closing day.

Now that Ocean Oasis is closed for the 2011 season we are already planning for 2012.  And yes, while currently top secret, we will be releasing a couple of really cool waterpark surprises for next season in the coming weeks.  Stay tuned.  If you are a fan of our waterparks, you will want to be in the loop with our plans for 2012!

It is always sad to see a waterpark season come to an end.  The good news is that you can attend Morey’s Fears…our first Halloween event to be held on select Friday and Saturday nights this October.  I have been told that I will be an “actor” for the event.  I cant wait to go “boo”…and scare the living heck out of all of you who dare to visit…

Thanks for a great season at Ocean Oasis.

I feel the same way when I close my pool. I can only imagine taking care of a water park!

I thought I read you were adding a “photo/movie screen” to the water slides…guests get to pick which theme they wanted to see as the went through the tunnels????

I hope you guys get a Tornado slide.  Those things are awesome and definitely should be in every waterpark!

Hopefully “in the loop” also refers to a new water slide maybe an “Aqualoop”?
