On Monday, June 16, Morey’s Piers and Beachfront Waterparks opened as usual following an early morning fire on Morey’s Mariners Landing Pier. The fire which started sometime after 1:00 AM in the vicinity of the Super Scooters, Mini Scooters, and the Seal Flume rides was quickly brought under control and the damage was limited to these rides. Over 11 fire departments responded to the alarm. As of yet, the cause has not been determined.

Will Morey, President of The Morey Organization, said, “Thankfully, when the smoke cleared, nobody was hurt, and the damage was not nearly as bad as it first appeared. In fact, 97% of our Mariners Landing Pier was unaffected. Our fire departments did an excellent job of containing the fire, and we were given the approval to open as usual today, with only three rides closed. With nearly 100 rides and attractions, our guest’s experience will remain spectacular.”

The entire Morey’s team rallied, and by 9:30am, there was a fence in front of the damaged rides, and the Piers and Waterparks opened at the normal times. Meanwhile the Group Sales team welcomed the first wave of guests for a Harrah’s Casino Picnic.
