Morey’s Piers Goes Country

Whether you are a country music fan or not, you must see the new Jason Aldean music video “Laughed Until We Cried,” which debuted last week on Country Music television’s (CMT) Top 20 Countdown. Since you are all familiar with Morey’s Piers and the Wildwood Boardwalk, there will be a whole lot of things to recognize!

In September Jason Aldean (and yes, he really is that HOT!) and a film crew spent 2 days with us here at Morey’s Mariner’s Landing Pier to shoot the video. The entire thing was shot in Cape May County with the majority filmed right here on ML Pier. This was probably the longest 2 days of my life! The crew had to set up at 4:00 AM on a Sunday and then at 5:00 AM on Monday, which, of course required an entire crew of Morey’s associates on site as well.

The question I have been getting the most is “why is everything closed on the boardwalk in some of the scenes?”…The answer to that is in the paragraph above. Thanks to Morey’s fantastic maintenance crew, filming was mostly done in the early quiet of a September morning. However, thanks to our wonderful operations staff the ride scenes were shot on a busy Sunday afternoon while we were open to the public. None of this is an easy task, I might add. Maintenance and operations had to have the lights on and rides tested and cleaned before any filming could be done and then corral curious guests and answer questions. Not to mention the whole bus load of personnel that came with Jason, including his wife and 2 kids (plus the nanny), models, camera persons and the rest of the film crew (and there were plenty of them), record label staff, wardrobe (they brought their own ironing board), and the all important Gopher, who found the nearest WaWa multiple times over 2 days!

Pay attention to the Morey’s Piers archway and signs throughout….oh, and the song isn’t bad either.
