I just walked back into my office after spending some time walking around Mariner’s Landing. We’re currently in the process of conducting a simulated opening for the property. Our entire operations staff, from ride operators to facility managers, participate in this yearly exercise in an effort to iron out the kinks that will undoubtedly occur on the first operating weekend.
During the simulation, we basically pretend that we are scheduled to open for our guests by a specific time. Everyone knows their responsibilities and has been thoroughly trained on what needs to happen and when, but this is when that training is put to the test. If we don’t get everything right, we do it again and again until everything goes smoothly. Today’s first try went OK, second try a bit better. Third, almost perfect. One more run through and we’ll have it down. Hopefully the weather will cooperate for the real thing tomorrow!
