This past weekend was a busy one! We hosted six events at the piers, waterparks, resorts and even at the airport in only a few days! The weekend kicked off on Thursday, with the "flying in" of the AcroBlast pilots for the yearly aerobatic competition at the Wildwood Airport. Pilots from all over the East Coast competed doing barrel rolls, flying upside down and straight for the ground...you know...for fun. Why do we host this event since it's not at the piers? Because our very own, Will Morey, is one of these insane pilots. The competitors enjoyed two days of competition, a welcome BBQ at the Cape May Brewery and a banquet at the Pan American Hotel.
On Friday the Mommy Bloggers checked into the StarLux (and Facebook) with their families to ride, slide and eat their way through Morey's Piers. We were so excited to have them here, if we had a red carpet, we would have rolled it out for them! The bloggers and their families had plenty of free time at the piers but also took part in tours, contests and a cocktail reception at the NEW Soggy Dollar Beach Bar.
Speaking of contests...we had two this weekend! The WipeOut! Race was on Saturday (Opening Day of Ocean Oasis Waterpark & Beach Club) where kids and parents raced each other down to win free tickets, memorabilia and bragging rights. On Sunday, the 4th Annual Curley Fry Eating Contest took over the deck at Joe's Fish Co. where professional and amateur eaters shoved as many Curley's Fries as possible down their pie holes in five minutes. A new champion was born this day, David Brunelli, who ate four and half pounds of this Wildwood delicacy! After that fry eating frenzy we had a very special competition of the Wildwood Fire Department vs. the Wildwood Police Department and much to our surprise, the Police Department came out on top with Eli Abound winning!
If all this eating and flying wasn't enough this weekend! We were honored to host the ALS Bike Express once again this year with the biggest ride yet! Over 700 bike riders! Every year we host the end point for this great cause and then make sure the riders have full bellies and of course fun before we send them on their bike ride home (j/k they don't have to ride back). We also welcomed Inspira Heath Network on Saturday for their company outing and picnic!
Phew! All these events plus our normal stuff like running three amusement piers and two beachfront waterparks! Wait until you hear what's going on next week!
See you soon,
