Today is a momentus day for our two beachfront waterparks, at least for 2011.
This morning, at 7:00am sharp, our all-star waterpark maintenance team reported to Raging Waters to begin the eight week process of getting the waterparks ready for the 2011 season. There is tons of work to do, but the first priority is always the “biggest,“ and that is to clean all of the pools and endless rivers to prep them for power washing and painting.
Now, our pools aren’t your typical backyard swimming pool that you can clean out on a Saturday afternoon. This is the real deal and it takes some serious manpower to complete. 14 Splash Pools, 2 Activity Pools, 2 Hot Tubs, 4 Zero-Depth Play Areas and 2, 1000-foot long Endless Rivers…thats over 1/4 of a mile of Endless River to clean! The entire cleaning process takes about two weeks to complete for each waterpark and generally we work rain or shine.
Now that we are in full waterpark opening “mode,” a new element of stress begins to emerge. Raging Waters opens Memorial Day Weekend and the the train is pulling up to Raging Waters on May 28, 2011 whether we are ready or not. We haven’t missed an opening day in 23 years, and it isn’t going to happen this year either.
So let’s hope for some good weather over the next two months so we can all enjoy some decent nights of sleep. Staying on or ahead of schedule is critical and a few days of rain at the wrong time really puts stress on our workflow and milestones.
So if you come visit us at Raging Waters Memorial Day Weekend and you see a couple of maintenance guys proudly looking over their “masterpiece,” make sure you stop and give them an “atta boy”....they certainly deserve it!
