It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

As the cold, gray ocean ominously crashes on the beach, I am reminded that winter and the holiday season are here. The rides and the waterparks are shut down for the season leaving the boardwalk quiet and lonely.

But inside our offices, atop the arcade on Mariner’s Landing Pier, it’s all hustle and bustle (not unlike Santa’s elves working hard to create their special brand of magic for their own special season). Morey’s associates are meeting and preparing for the return of our Guests in the spring. Some are outside working on rides in preparation for opening day already! Others are traveling the world to recruiting staff from across the globe. Still others are preparing for our annual Holiday Sale – it is an annual tradition, like so many traditions here at Morey’s Piers & Beachfront Waterparks. And…it is the only time that we get to visit with our Guests in the winter.

We miss you here in the winter. Fortunately, some come to visit us every year in December, giving us yet another opportunity to know you better. It’s the only time that we have to chat, hear your stories and ask how the family is. We love it. Last year during the holidays, I had the opportunity to meet some of our very special Guests. They are people who will brave the cold harsh winds, sometimes rain and sometimes even the snow to come to our office to purchase their holiday gifts. There are those who have been visiting for years, first buying passes and tickets as gifts for their children and now many years later for their grandchildren. What a joy it is! Yes, they could go online to make their purchase, or pick up the phone, but some still want to walk up here to hear the holiday music that we play on the pier and in the office, to see the decorations leading up to the door, and the Christmas tree that we so lovingly decorate in a different and special way each year. When it’s really cold we even offer cider and cookies!

Moms, Dads, Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles, and neighbors so generously give gifts from Morey’s to children in their lives. And we appreciate that, because it means that we will get to see them again when the summer comes.

The smells, the sights, the sounds, of the boardwalk and the amusements may be missing from the Piers with the summer season long gone, but we will soon have the very best season to enjoy along with all of its inimitable excitement and gift-giving. We hope this year you will come to see us. Stop in…chat…enjoy the music and the tree, and while you’re here get a little something to stuff into the stocking of a child in your life. We like making new friends. We’ll be waiting…

Mariner’s Landing Pier office is open Monday through Friday from 10am until 3pm – November 26th to January 4th.* *We will be closed December 24th, 25th and 26th plus New Year’s Day, but our online store is open 24/7.
