Nothing Matters in the Whole Wide World…

...when you’ve got a date at Jersey Girl!

I think it’s safe to say most of us at Morey’s love Jersey Girl Drinks & Dining. Our “watercooler talk” generally consists of, “You went to Jersey Girl?! What did you have?” and then we all drool over the answer.

This week, I had a date with my boyfriend and his 2 1/2 year old daughter. That’s the great thing about Jersey Girl- it’s an awesome date spot, but it’s also family friendly. The dining room is gorgeous and you feel like you’re in an upscale restaurant, but the atmosphere is relaxed and casual.

We couldn’t wait to dig into Jersey Girl’s delicious menu options. Boy, do I have some recommendations for you!

Grilled Scottish Salmon- I get this almost every time I visit Jersey Girl. I love salmon, but the soy ginger vinaigrette takes it to another plane of amazing.  I also enjoy the contrast between the tender little potatoes and the crisp crunch of the sugar snap peas.

Eggplant Crepes- Ricotta, spinach and basil wrapped in thin and lightly crisp slices of eggplant topped with mozzarella and marinara. I’m sitting here trying to find the words to express the deliciousness of this appetizer, but you’re just going to have to try it. You have to.

Roasted Corn Crab Chowder- If ever there was a chowder made for summer, this is it! Roasted sweet corn and lumps of tender crab meat in a chowder with a little kick.

Whiskey Bourbon Bread Pudding- I didn’t even know I liked bread pudding. This is truly something to be tasted. It’s on my list of things I would bring if I were stranded on an island, but fortunately, it already lives on the same island as I do- The Wildwoods!

Seafood Paella- Chorizo, shredded chicken, scallops, mussels, clams and anything else you can eat from the ocean piled high with saffron rice. My boyfriend ordered this and there was so much, I got to bring the leftovers for lunch the next day!

You really can’t go wrong at Jersey Girl. Everything on their menu is so carefully crafted (check out their whole dinner menu here). The John family’s passion for exquisite food is evident in every dish. That’s what makes a restaurant great. We’re lucky to have such a place right here in Wildwood.

my current favorite at jersey girl is the grilled cheese and tomato bisque. this friday night staple from my childhood is a true departure from my mother’s american cheese and wonder bread sandwich served with cambells tomato soup. fontina and asiago cheeses, a beefy jersey tomato, homemade pesto and whole wheat bread come together for a grown up version of this american classic. add a grey goose gimlet (less sweet made with fresh lime juice) and bam, you’ve started your weekend on the right foot!
